|

Are the turn signals, hazards, adn the rear window defrost functions linked together somehow on a 1994 E320? The turn signals started losing their ability to function shortly after I started driving this car (almost 4 months ago), and now they basically don't work except for once every few weeks. When the turn signals don't work, the hazard flashers don't work. I don't find this hard to believe at all. What I do find weird is the fact that I noticed that the rear defrost runs on the same schedule of working/not working that the turn signals and hazards do. They all work or they all don't work. When they work, it's for maybe only a couple minutes or it might actually be my entire trip across town (~10 minutes) when I shut the car off. Very rarely will they still function the next time I drive the car, and if they do, it's maybe for one turn (for the turn signals).
I've thought maybe it's a fuse but haven't gotten around to checking fuses yet. I know on my 1985 380SL there are some pretty weird combinations of stuff on the same fuse. Anyway, I thought I'd throw this out there in case it might be something else. Thanks for any help!

I can't believe you would drive around for four months without working turn signals which are required by law. And in four months you can't look at the fuses?
Aside from that, this is a well known old MB crapout. Since the turn signal circuit goes through the hazard warning switch. the easy fix du jour is to operate the hazard switch 50-60 times which usually cleans the switch contacts and restores operation. For a while.
The rear window defroster is another problem. Maybe next year you might glance at the fuse. _________________ RLE |

Hi Anna. Welcome back to the forums, long time no see!
Did you notice that we used one of the pictures that you submitted of your families cars in the forums header image (second to last picture from the right). Pretty cool, huh? _________________ CenCalMB

| What you drove without your signal lights?! It is not advice able to use a car without signal lights. Well anyway why not try checking the flasher.Go to a auto part store and ask for a turn signal flasher for your vehicle once you got it look under driver side dash you should find it its not hard to replace. Good luck! |
