SL600 1994 engine bay wiring loom

Hi Everyone,

I am looking at purchasing a 1994 SL600 and the guy selling his car has told me that all SL's suffer from wiring loom wear.

Has anyone else seen any issues with their wiring loom perishing under the heat of the bonnet??

I'm not sure if this guy is lying or not.

Yes, the wiring harnesses do deteriorate on the V12 and can cause all kinds of problems.

Are wiring harnesses easily repaired?

From what l believe replacing a wiring harness can be an expensive operation and should only be performed by a specialist.

Are these the kinds of parts that l could buy second hand or from a wrecker?

I would appreciate any advice on this.
